There is a lot of information out there about sports, mental health, and nutrition.  But how exactly do they all fit in together? Professional athletes use coaches to improve their sports performance; nutritionists to help improve their bodies, and mental health professionals to improve their cognitive abilities.  In the mental health field, however, we understand that these three facets of health are all intertwined.

You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from improving your nutrition. A person’s nutrition not only affects their body, but their mind as well.  Nutrition can heighten our mental abilities by increasing our focus and helping us think quicker. On the other hand, poor nutrition can decrease our awareness and slow down our cognitive abilities.  When nutrition affects our minds, it affects our moods. When you feel sluggish, have no energy, and find yourself fussing at people for no reason, think about your nutrition. What you eat or don’t eat affects job performance, academic achievement, and athletic performance.

With all the information about what supplements to take, which minerals to put into your body, and which diet to try, it is hard to figure out how your body and mood are affected by each element separately. In the past, you might have sought the guidance of various coaches and specialists to help you toward a healthier life that incorporates body, mind, and spirit as one life.

At CN3 Performance Training I look at every aspect of your life and work with you to improve health in both body and mind. If you are an athlete we take a holistic approach that addresses performance issues as they relate to mental health and nutrition. Everyone is a life-athlete in his or her own way, so if you’re looking for any way to improve yourself, we are always here to help.
